Earth day reminds all of us that we have a collective responsibility to protect our planet. We live that every day at Levy – it’s central to who we are as a company. 

Environmental stewardship isn’t just a buzzword – it’s a core value that informs every aspect of our operations. From our sourcing practices to our daily operations, we are deeply committed to minimizing our environmental footprint and maximizing our positive impact on the planet.

Sustainable Sourcing: We understand that the choices we make as a company have far-reaching consequences. That’s why we prioritize sustainable sourcing practices by partnering with suppliers who share our commitment to environmental responsibility. Whether it’s using responsibly harvested materials, reducing waste, or supporting fair trade practices, we strive to make ethical choices at every step of the supply chain.

Energy Efficiency: The importance of reducing energy consumption and transitioning to renewable sources of energy is foundational to our thinking. Through initiatives such as energy-efficient lighting and processing equipment to purchasing 100% renewable energy to power our operations, we’re working to reduce our carbon footprint and decrease our reliance on fossil fuels.

Waste Reduction and Recycling: Our business is built on recycling. Each year we responsibly and safely recycle more than 6 million tons of industrial by-products and have recycled more than 200 million tons of products since our founding. Our work minimizes the amount of waste sent to landfills just as it conserves valuable resources. We’re continually exploring innovative ways to repurpose waste materials, transforming them into new products or resources. Just as we recycle materials, so too do we recycle equipment and land. When machines are no longer needed we seek to donate them to worthwhile community organizations who use the assets for job training. After we mine sand and gravel from the ground, we partner with developers to turn the property into new uses, often providing housing and commercial development. We actively seek to reduce our waste and to recycle wherever and whenever possible.

Community Engagement: We believe that environmental stewardship extends beyond the walls of our company. That’s why we actively engage with our local communities to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Whether it’s participating in cleanup efforts, supporting environmental education programs, or partnering with local conservation organizations, we’re dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.

Continuous Improvement: While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far, we recognize that there’s always room for improvement. That’s why we’re committed to ongoing innovation and continuous improvement in our environmental practices.
