Women’s History Month: Voices of Strength and Change at Levy

March is Women’s History Month and Levy is proud to celebrate some of the remarkable women at the company who are shaping the future of construction, bringing passion, innovation and leadership to every corner of the business.

We are highlighting the journeys and insights of three inspiring women: Kayla Deciechi, Mikayla Myers and Francesca Medeiros. Their stories speak to the evolving landscape of our industry and the bright future that lies ahead.

Each of these women entered the industry from a different path, but all share a common drive to make an impact.

Kayla Deciechi, senior mine planning engineer manager in our Natural Aggregates Division, began with a love for geology and the desire to use the Earth’s resources responsibly. Starting at Levy as a driller, she worked her way up through hands-on fieldwork and analytical roles and now leads the Mine and Land Planning Group. She ensures we “mine with a purpose” and leave behind a usable, thoughtfully reclaimed landscape.

“I enjoy problem solving and that every day is different. I get to work with the other departments within the company to accomplish a common goal.” Deciechi said.

Mikayla Myers, now a human resources coordinator at Schmidt Construction Company, an affiliate of Levy, didn’t plan on working in construction. But a background in administrative roles and family ties to the industry led her to discover a fulfilling path where she now helps support the people who bring our projects to life.

“Whether it’s an HR question, a workplace issue or just needing guidance, I want to create an environment where reaching out is a normal part of a supportive workplace,” Myers said.

Francesca Medeiros, an environmental, health and safety specialist at Schmidt Construction Company, began her journey in an unexpected place. With a background in running a landscaping business and volunteering on emergency response teams she brought a unique skillset to the company. Starting as a receptionist, her background in caring for others translated seamlessly into a promotion into safety leadership, where she focuses on protecting teams and promoting well-being on the job site.

“There are still some lingering misconceptions about women in construction,” said Medeiros. But we show up every day with confidence, lean on each other and trust ourselves to get the job done. Whether it’s jumping in on tasks, solving tough problems or leading a team, we prove our value through action.”

Today, these leaders are part of a growing shift across the construction industry. More women are stepping into leadership roles, mentoring others and helping companies evolve into more inclusive, collaborative environments. At Levy, we’re committed to supporting that growth through development opportunities, internal and external leadership training and a workplace culture that values every voice.

Their advice for the next generation of women in construction? Don’t doubt yourself. Be curious, stay confident and never underestimate the value you bring to the table.
