Levy & Detroit Police Dept Help Kids Gear Up for Back to School

Most of us remember our first day of school…and there’s nothing quite like the excitement of walking into the classroom with a brand-new backpack and the confidence that comes along with it. That’s why we partnered with the Detroit Police Department’s 4th Precinct Police Community Relations Council to make sure local students had what they needed to start the year strong.

At our annual employee picnic, Levy team members packed over 200 backpacks with notebooks, pencils, and other supplies, in addition to letters of encouragement from Levy colleagues. Then, we paired up with the Detroit Police Department’s 4th Precinct for a back-to-school supply giveaway event to hand stuffed backpacks out to local students, free of charge. Families also had the chance to meet their neighborhood police officers and learn about available community resources.

At Levy, we believe showing up for our communities and investing in the next generation is core to doing good business. Education has always been a cornerstone for strong neighborhoods and by helping kids start the school year prepared, we feel proud to play a role in supporting students and families in their success.
