Levy Steps Up to the Plate for Local Community

In Oxford, Michigan, baseball and softball are a cornerstone of the community. On warm evenings and sunny weekends, families fill the stands, kids chase foul balls and future all-stars step up to the plate with dreams in their eyes. This year, Levy helped make those dreams a little brighter.

Levy recently partnered with the Oxford Recreational Baseball Association (ORBA) to bring new life to a longtime local tradition. With over 450 kids, from t-ballers to teenagers, ORBA needed new equipment and new fields to keep up with growing demand. They needed a community behind them and Levy eagerly stepped up to the plate.

We sponsored ORBA’s purchase of brand-new batting helmets and catcher’s gear to keep kids safe, confident and ready to play. Levy also teamed up with Webster Construction to revitalize two long-abandoned baseball fields at Oxford Middle School. Together, we donated and delivered 120 tons of aggregates to transform neglected patches of grass into playable diamonds where kids can swing for the fences once again.

Many Levy team members live and work in Oxford. Casey Smith, laboratory operations manager at Levy and an ORBA coach, helped lead the charge.

“As both a coach and a parent, this partnership meant a lot to me,” Smith said. “We had kids practicing on fields that hadn’t been touched in years and it wasn’t safe. The new gear and field upgrades made the athlete’s confidence grow. And for me, knowing that I work for a company that not only values this kind of community investment, but encourages it, makes me incredibly proud. This is what it means to be part of something bigger.”

This partnership reflects something bigger than baseball. At Levy, we believe in building stronger communities, inspiring young minds, and leaving the world better than we found it. While kids dream of scoring the winning run, we hope they’re also dreaming about the kind of world they want to help create. Hopefully one that’s cleaner, safer, and more sustainable.

One day, they might trade their cleats for work boots. They might help build roads, shape cities, or find new ways to reuse materials and protect our planet. Maybe one day, they’ll work at Levy. Until then, we’ll keep showing up where it matters most: in our neighborhoods and on the sidelines.
