27 Apr Teaching environmental stewardship through Levy site tours
Earth Month is every month for us here at Levy. But when April rolls around, it serves as a reminder that taking care of the environment isn’t separate from the work we do, it’s built into it.
At our Oxford location on Ray Road, we offer regular site tours to give community members a firsthand look at how our work makes a difference.
For many visitors, especially kids, it’s their first time seeing a site like this up close. From the scale of the equipment to the mounds of raw materials like gravel and aggregate beneath their feet, it becomes real in a way that sticks. They’re seeing work in action while learning how these materials are responsibly sourced. Plus, the kids take home custom safety gear with their names on it – a keepsake to remember the day and what it means to protect the world around them.
The tours are a learning experience for adults, too. We show our reclamation process – how Levy restores the natural world after operations are complete. Our teams bring visitors to a former mining site that has been transformed into homes, neighborhoods and a golf course. It’s a tangible example of land being returned to productive, long-term community use, proving how Levy is committed to being a steward of the environment and the communities we serve.
While Earth Month brings added attention to our work, it’s an ongoing effort. Through site tours and everyday practices, Levy continues to balance production with sustainability in a way that builds safer, cleaner communities for the future.
